What a messy week, phew!

This hot humid weather is a shocker. I felt so exhausted after my bike ride on Tuesday that I was worried that I had caught my husband's bug. But no it must have been the heat. I am so sick of being hot ,wet and exhausted.
Wednesday's weigh in was successful ,yeh 2weeks in a row!   Fantastic.
Diet plan was difficult . Both of my children were leaving home this week. My daughter returning to  Melbourne to attend uni and my son starting uni in Brisbane. Final dinners, shared with family and  friends was hard to navigate.
Emotional eating and drinking raised it's ugly head, damage control was in place, I knew we were free to get back to normal by Saturday night .
Well to my greatest surprise the empty nest feeling crept upon me. Now that was a surprise, I spent a  month on my own last year so I thought I was  immuned ! Good grief my son is only in Brisbane, but oh well!   Feeling dull I set off to work for the day on Sunday , giving myself this one day to mourn.  I must admit I surcumbed  to the call of chocolate.
Well move on I did. Monday I was back on the program. No more misery back on track. Another boxing workout and a walk. Back  to yummy food and back to painting. I'm feeling much better, and the heat has gone!
I have two empty rooms but life challenges back on track, and feeling good.
Weigh in this week may be slightly less exciting but next week may be better.
Measurements will be interesting too
Fitness test? That will be interesting, less impressive I suspect. Progress maybe slow but defiantly steady.
Cheers.

Pushing that envelope,Saturday

It's Saturday morning, the sun is out ,no wind,so off we set on another ride. We were aiming at doing at least 40 km. we did 36 a couple of weeks ago so no pressure. I was able to ride the hills this time.not hug hills , short and steep. We did 46km.
Well all good till the last 4km.oh dear we were stuffed.i ran out of water! It was humid but on a bike you get lots of breeze.  We both felt we had done 100 km.  Got home and just crashed.
The total exhaustion seemed a bit over the top to me. I know we burnt about 1500 calories, but we ate and kept our fluids up except for last km.
Any way next day I was fine so did the boxing workout as I was having Monday as a lay day .
My poor husband was exhausted the next day too and felt terrible too boot . Yes your right he had caught a bug, so the ride certainly didn't do him any good. Such bad timing.  He is still sick today two days later.
I went on a ride this morning, still struggling with faded energy, maybe I'm fighting the bug too. I even had to stop and buy a boost juice to get me home. I'm not  usually like that. It is very humid, but i go pretty early  morning. Ah, as time goes on all will be clear.  I don't feel sick just tired.
I even started my challenge today,39 push-ups . All guns firing here!
WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY !
Yes I do sneak peaks through the week, all looks fine. My small loss last week has remained off and maybe a little more tomorrow.
I am only losing around .5 kg per week, but I know my waist has reduced by a couple of cm. Enough to notice changes in clothes. Isn't that amazing. I'm redistributing at a good rate. It makes up for the poor change in scales.  This is a good result for me, me losing anything is amazing!
Programming that works!
I have to say I am really enjoying the varied timetable , meaning different exercises each day.
Walking, riding ,one day of weights and a couple of video workouts.

I can't always get the high calorie burn but it's coming together slowly. Yeh!
The food is a breeze! I keep getting told it isn't enough on riding days. I will keep it as it is unless I'm finding I can't keep up with riding then I will  reassess
I supposed I covered too many ideas in one post. I feel if I write every day a spend all my time on the computer/ ipad.
I'm loving this sharing of thoughts, such an indulgence!
I hope  my words are useful to other people  .
Come share in the journey.
Cheers

Trying not to be disappointed

I did the bend it with bridges. My bod really let's me down.  Well to be real it's not surprising. I had a hip replacement in 2007 with great result. Magic really. But naturally my hips aren't what they used to be. My concern is when it comes to hip I'm not sure if pain is the warning of going too far. Any other dodgy parts I only go as far as it takes to get mild discomfort and I have had no ill effects in fact I am getting freer. Most people I ask are over  cautious so I will email my surgeon.he is a sportsman so will advise .
My body slows me down so much I can't do the workouts as I'd like. I suspect my workouts are not up there in calorie burn. I just have to be patient and let my bits and pieces catch up. At least I have the bike riding. That is usually 600 to 1000 calories.
So far no pain and that is great, stiffness yes, but no pain. Yeh! And I suppose it is getting better slowly. Gym classes  usually send me to the Physio so all good. Stop winging! :)

1st. Weight in . OMG!

Well it has happened, I have actuall lost!  Due to my history of weight management , I won't believe it till I've lost more next week.  I truely believed I had to be basically starch free to lose any weight.
I was in phase 1 of the Atkins diet riding every second day  for 2months and lost nothing. I know my hormones don't help but really!   I suspect I wasn't able to manage the high level of protein in the diet.
What ever!
Any way never can say I won't reboot and try something new. Having this lovely menu done for me
set out and able to swap, so cool. I have to admitt I really didn't expect to lose weight , well not until my fitness improved ,muscle mass increased and maybe improve metabolism. Ha!  Just shows you
can teach on old dog new tricks.  Well all assuming it continues.  I weighed again today and it is still down.:).  Yeh!
Had a couple of weeks off the bike so rides are behind. We went 26 km this morning.  Will do Mish's
toning workout tomorrow.
I can see this mix of different exercises is doing wonders for me. My dicky groin is coping if not improving a little. My strength has improved , I do weights once a week , yesterday.
I'm amazed at how good it is all going.
Ha I learnt from my muesli mishap, I got this yummy whole grain sour dough at the market but I worked out how many calories it should be. I'm sure it has more seeds in it than most wholegrain.
Not to be caught out again .
Come on week three.
Cheers

Breakfast goof!

Oh dear I followed day two breakfast, yum, but oops I didn't do the obvious. I have some wonderful natural muesli that has yummy nuts and seeds absolutely delicious but oh the calories. I forgot to check calorie difference. Aagh! 300 c. per 60 g serve aagh! And oh dear too much! Very over full.
What a dill.
Went for bike ride, haven't ridden for a couple of weeks so took it easy but still burned 600 calories.
Life will go on.
Off to work

And week 2 begins

With week 1 done and dusted let week 2 roll on.
I chose to do Tuesday's abs and tone work out as we are doing our bike riding tomorrow.
Interesting work out, I got through it but as I have so many dysfunctional joints and muscles that it was hard to keep up even with the beginners.
The biggest surprise is that I'm doing  exercises that have previously aggravated some very dysfunctional muscles .I'm pushing through at my own pace and yeh ,no pain! It's amazing, it's actually loosening up my joints.  Mish giving constant advise to keep to my own pace is paying off. I think at gym classes I push harder and cause more muscle strain than strengening. The penny has dropped, I may be aerobicly fit enough to do more but my muscles need more time to relearn to do their job correctly.
As silly as this sounds, it is so much better that no one sees me doing my workout, I don't feel pressured to work faster . Don't get me wrong, I enjoy pushing the envelope , I like the feeling of working hard ,but with some exercises I just have to be a little more patient. The most difficult exercise is the Russian kicks. I can hardly lift my right leg off the floor. I'm sure it will improve .
And the burpies, what ever they are called, all this get up and down, wow it's making muscles work that had given up years ago. Great program Mish!!!!!
It will be interesting looking back over this in the next few weeks to see how I progress.
I know I'm rambling, but another great thing is Mish's words of wisdom re positive thoughts and attitudes. I allow those horrid negative thoughts to immobilize me in all aspects of my life. Fear of failure has been my greatest enemy.
My new goal is to clear out all those negative thoughts .
Enough drivvle for one night, I'm not going to get onto food. That hasn't been too bad so I will leave at that!  Good night and god bless.    Let day 2 begin.
Cheers.

Week 1 in review

Well week 1 was a little less than great. I was away staying with family from Sunday till Friday. Had a lovely time but difficult starting a new program. I walked Monday and Tuesday 400 cal each time so that was something. Wednesday I did my best with the boxing video. Ha a bit of a laugh, but I did my best.
Squeezing a boxing workout in a small bedroom is a challenge to say the least. Raising my hands being careful not to hit the ceiling fan. But I did it, not well but as Mish says I turned up!
I had an appt on Thursday and then it was a heat wave so no luck that day. Friday I was travelling so next workout Sat. Done!
Had no chance to prepare my own food but tried to keep light.
Didn't weigh as not home and decided to do it next week.
I doubt if weight will move at this stage, but I know I will get fitter and stronger, and maybe metabolism may perk up and play ball. Now eating from menu, love it, so nice not having to think too much , having a good menu done is a wonderful help . I do add extras for other family members but so far so good. Come on week 2!
